    RTO Practice Run- Leg 30
RTO Practice/Preview Runs - Here comes Leg 30! This Sunday, 4/14, we will host our Leg 30 PracticeRun. Everyone is welcome, even if you aren't participating in the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey! This Sunday Instructions/Details: Please join us for the official Leg 30 Practice Run this Sunday, April 14 at 8 a.m.  Leg 30 features the infamous climb from Silver/City through Gold Hill to Virginia City. But it has the best finish ever with the sprint down C Street to the middle of town and the Bucket of Blood and Delta saloons.  We’ll meet outside of the Comstock Historic District Commission Building at 20 E Street, Virginia City (just 2 blocks due east of / down the hill from the Bucket of Blood). Lots of free parking there.   What’s happening before we head down to the leg start?  We’ll take a group photo and give some short instructions.   ASICS will be there with some shoes to demo!  Be sure to sign in to get your virtual "raffle ticket" for the Garmin watch raffled off at the last Practice Run.  We’ll jump in as few cars as possible so make friends to share the ride down to the start of Leg 30. Then run (and/or power walk in certain parts) this short but challenging leg STEEPed in/history! We will have water and bananas at the end.  You’ll want to plan ahead if you need to use a restroom before we run. There are public restrooms at the/rest area on the left side of C Street as you enter Virginia City from the Reno side, next to the gas station at 351 N C St., Virginia City.  Please contact Kelly 775-338-5255 if you have any troubles.  Remaining Practice Run Schedule (subject to change) 4/20/24 Saturday – Leg 33 5/5/24 Sunday – This Practice Run will be your “running in the dark” practice from the Reno Running Co. Summit Store at 4:00 am. You can just do the run or you can do the run while also participating in the Wings for Life World RunReno. Either way, you must be wearing the appropriate gear required by the RTO.* 5/11/24 Saturday – Leg 4 5/18/24 Saturday – Leg 7

Wings for Life World Run 2024 - App Run Event Reno
What is the Wings for Life World Run? The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car. Now in its eleventh year, on May 5, 2024 Wings for Life World Run participants in the United States can also run together in Reno, NV. Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people running until the Virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 4:00:00 AM. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects. ##Track/ Course You will not be running on a track but you have two great options to choose from: Option 1 is the one mile loop around the Summit. This option has no street crossings and you will pass by Reno Running Company for refreshments every mile. Option 2 is the 5.5mi Wedge Loop. We will have maps for you to view at the store.  ##Wheelchair participants On May 5, 2024 wheelchair participants and runners start at the same time, from the same place- 4am. The only requirement: wheelchair participants have to start in everyday wheelchairs. ##Refreshment station and local set up Yes, this course has a refreshment station! You will find the following on site: RedBull, water, bananas, pancakes, coffee, donuts. ##Timing and race number You will receive your personal race number via email and it’s also available next to your starting number on the website a couple of days before the race. The Wings for Life World Run App is your time tracking tool. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start and as soon as it overtakes you, you will get clear signals via the App. Please make sure to have a fully charged phone on race day. ##Your contribution to help find a cure In order to join this App Run Event, please download the Wings for Life World Run App for Android or iPhone and sign up for the race in the App. To be part of the Wings for Life World Run on May 5, 2024 a registration fee will be charged; 100% of your fee go to spinal cord research.
